Seven million dollars is the whole country

lore
  • 01

    The smallest currency on earth

The Falkland Islands pound is real money — printed, spent, pegged 1:1 to sterling. There is roughly $7,000,000 of it in existence. That is the entire monetary base of a country.

  • 02

3,662 people hold all of it

Fewer residents than a mid-size high school. More sheep than people by a factor of 135. The smallest float of any circulating currency anywhere.

  • 03

    We open at three thousand

$3,000 against $7,000,000 is 2,333x. Written down it sounds absurd. Written as doublings it is twelve.

  • 04

    Then we are the currency

Whichever one is worth more is the money. That is the whole thesis and there is nothing else to it.

03the research sheet

Flipping the market cap of the Falkland Islands pound

A working paper on the shortest distance between a $3K memecoin and the entire money supply of a sovereign territory.

abstractthe mission

Take $FALKLAND from a $3K opening market cap to $7M — the total value of every Falkland Islands pound in circulation. The FKP is pegged 1:1 to sterling, is legal tender for 3,662 people, and is the smallest circulating currency on earth — £7.07M of it, audited. At $7M the joke stops being a joke: a token minted for nothing is worth more than the entire money supply of a country.

The gap is 2,333x. Stated that way it sounds impossible. Stated as 11.2 doublings it sounds like a Tuesday. This sheet is the second version of the sentence.

note. 01why not a bigger one

Every currency on that chart is real money in a real country. The Falkland Islands pound is simply the smallest of them — it circulates on one archipelago, for 3,662 people, and the whole float is $7M.

It is also the cleanest to check. It is pegged 1:1 to sterling, it is issued by one government, and the exact total is published once a year in an audited set of accounts. There is no argument to have about what the number is — section 04 is the document.

03.2execution

What needs to be done

01

Aim at a stationary target

The float has compounded at +2.6% a year across the published run and -0.1% over the last three years (fig. 06). It is restated once a year in audited accounts. The distance is the same today as it was in 2022 — the number does not run.

02

One percent costs $70K

The flip is a hundred identical units of $70K. The first one is 23.3x from the opening cap; the hundredth is 1.01x. The multiples are front-loaded, and that is the only reason 2,333x is a number worth saying out loud.

03

Count in doublings

11.2 doublings, each one identical in percentage terms — $3K to $6K is the same step as $3.5M to $7M. Eleven of them land at $6.1M; the twelfth clears the float outright.

04

Post the comparison

Nobody buys a chart. One sentence does the work: a token minted for nothing, measured against the entire money supply of a country. Every post is that sentence with the day's number in it.

methodsources & assumptions

FKP is pegged 1:1 to sterling and circulates only in the islands. The target is the total currency in circulation reported in the Falkland Islands Government Currency Fund accounts for the year ended 30 June 2025 — £7,065,567, rounded down to $7M throughout. See section 04 for the document. Population 3,662 (2021 census). Land area 12,173 km² — $575 per km² at parity. Sheep 500,000. Comparison currencies in fig. 04 are directional estimates of notes and coin, not audited totals. Market cap is fully diluted at a 1,000,000,000 supply. Every $FALKLAND figure on this sheet is a stated target, not a result — nothing has launched. $FALKLAND is a memecoin. It has no claim on, affiliation with, or endorsement from the Falkland Islands, its government or its currency. Nothing here is financial advice.

04the proof

The target is audited, published and flat

We did not pick $7,000,000 because it sounded good. It is the total of every Falkland Islands pound in circulation, signed off by the Commissioners of Currency and laid before Executive Council on 27 January 2026.

Currency Fund demand liabilities, £000, year to 30 June. The float crossed £7M in 2022 and has gone nowhere since — £7.07M in 2022, £7.07M in 2025. This is a stationary target. Ours starts at $3,000 and is not.
